LAS ANIMAS 39, Hoehne 36 - Coach Greg Koenig: "Coach Wyatt, We are now 1-1 after a thrilling come from behind victory on Friday night. We won 39-36 (on a FG from an exchange student from Denmark) in OT. We started very poorly and were down 22-8 in the first quarter. While we had been moving the ball, fumbles were killing us. We trailed 30-23 at the half, but we completely dominated the second half. They had to kick off to start the half, and we got the ball on our own 20. Eighteen plays and eighty yards later, the game was tied. We didn't even attempt a pass on the drive. We ran the super power, the wedge, and the G-O all the way down the field. Our other scoring drive of the half covered 65 yards in 15 plays and was more smash-mouth football. We controlled the ball for 18 minutes of the second half, and their big play offense couldn't regain their momentum. We scored our first TD of the game on thunder throwback. The other four were all scored on the wedge. Our A-back had 95 yards on 21 carries; our C back had 81 yards on 18 carries; our B-back had 72 yards on 15 carries; and our QB had 64 yards on 8 carries (most coming on the QB blast I shared with you)."

NASHVILLE 42, WEST FRANKFORT 20 - Coach Bruce Reeder: "Nashville had 490 yards in total offense with A, B and C all rushing for over 100 yards each."
RIDGEVIEW 40, Flanagan 0 - Coach Mike Benton: "The Ridgeview Mustangs are now 3-0 this season after a 40-0 win over the Flanagan Falcons. Flanagan was 1-1 coming in to this game and this was a key win for us as we move into our conference schedule. Our A back Chase Simpsen rushed for 109 yards on 14 carries and scored two rushing TD's and one 20 yard reception for a TD. Our C back Derek Norton had 85 yards on 10 carries, and our B back Mitch Wissmiller had 8 carries for 49 yards and a TD. Overall we were 53 carries for 360 yards. QB Kyle Daniels was 4 of 9 for 82 yards and two TD's. By the way, you were right about 7C. We scored once with it, they all thought our C back had the ball and they tackled him! Our kids are starting to execute!"
RICH CENTRAL 25, Bremen 6 - D-I running back prospect Tyreece Jones returns to the RC lineup & provides leadership as well as offensive punch. Coach Jon McLaughlin: "This is a big win for our program. For the past 10 years, Bremen has been on top of the league. And for the past couple of years we've been knocking on the door, but we haven't been able to get over the hump. I think this was really big because we've finally climbed the mountain and knocked them off the hill.We start 22 kids and probably play about 10 other kids. We're playing a lot of bodies and that has to take a toll on people. They have a lot of kids playing both ways, and as the game went on we just kept grinding on 'em and good things happened."
CALUMET 52, Hammond Noll 7 (Calumet, of Gary, now 4-0)DeMarreo Campbell now has 937 yds on 67 carries, 14 TD (rushing) and 3 2pt. conversions(90 points)

The premier game in the Quad Cities and the state of Iowa. We kept the clock moving and them off the field with 8/9 opt, trap, 38/29 reach go from spread and 29br/38bl-xo both to a TE and a Spread E. A huge win for us!"

Kalamazoo Christian 17-14. We really didn't run the ball very effectively except when we needed to. We had 2 real serious drives but we passed the ball very well. And the Defense - well we held them to 132 yards in total offense. KChristian is now 2-1." KALAMAZOO VALLEY ATHLETIC ASSN

FLORENCE 26, Pelahatchie 12 - Coach Steve Jones - "Coach Wyatt, We beat # 4 Ranked(Class A) Pelahatchie 26-12. We fell behind 12-0 in the first half. We moved the ball well but we dropped several passes that would have given us big plays. We only punted once in the game. We kicked a 45 yd. field goal with 10 seconds left in the 3rd to go to 3-12. we knocked the ball loose on the last play of the 3rd quarter. It put us in business at the PHS 10 yard line. We scored in two plays to pull back to 10-12. We then drove 65 yards in 12 plays to take the lead at 18-12, most of those yards coming off of 88 power. The clock was down to 4 minutes left. We then intercepted a 3rd down pass and returned it for a 38 yard TD. We were up 24-12. We then converted the two point play for the 26 -12 final. We scored all 26 points in the last 12 minutes and ten seconds!! It was a great victory. 10 wins out of the last 15 with the DW! Thanks Again.

ARAPAHOE 35, Elm Creek 12 - Coach Daren Hatch: "345 yards rushing, 56 passing for a 401 yard total. Most yards of any of my teams. Even my JV's scored - unfortunately it was called back on a clip. Scored on 29 GO reach, 2 wedge (2 times), Maryland I or stack I with right motion with the fb who then does a corner route. It is a killer. The best part of the whole night was that we ran 88 and 99 superpowers at will. Time after time. So many times in fact their coach was yelling at them that 'here it comes again'".

CORNING WEST 40, Waverly 26 - COACH MIKE JOHNSTON: "We got our first win of the season at the Carrier Dome this past Saturday evening. We ran for 390 yards and all 5 of our 2 point conversions. We ran Super Power to death. The fans on the opposing sidelines were a little irate and hoped that our opposition's coaching staff might quickly figure out that we were going to Keep running that same toss play over and over again. Like they were going to stop it anyway. My C-Back, Ian Tuttle, ran for 155 yards and a TD on 11 carries and my A-Back, Chris Scanlon, ran for 188 yards on 15 carries, 2 TD's and 5 2 pt. conversions ( one on 6G pass and the others on 88 Super Power)" "Coach, On my way back from a scouting assignment for Brockport College I stopped at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse to watch Corning West (9/9 vs. Waverly) and their Double Wing. I must say that I was very impressed witth their execution!!! They had a tremendous amount of success running tight rip 88 super power so much so that by the end of the first half they had scored four TD's on that one play (they must have run it about 80% of the time). I didn't stay beyond the first half because of other responsibilites. They sure did put on a clinic. I plan to drop a note to Coach Johnston. Good Luck on your endeavor this season. Rob Banzer"
ELMIRA NOTRE DAME 62, Trumansburg 6 (ND has scored 103 pooints in two games)
ORCHARD PARK 21, Lake Shore 8
QUEENSBURY 23. Hudson Falls 18 - Coach John Irion: "We had them 17-0 in the 3rd quarter when my guys started to suck wind a little. With slight (1 week) injuries to 3 starters and 2 other players with personal committments, I was down to about 20 players. More kids playing both ways took its toll with the second week of very warm weather. My sophs are really doing well and I foresee us being a team that improves more during the season than some teams because of our youth and inexperience. The DW definitely has allowed us to be game ready earlier than we might have been. We also actually passed for 95 yards which is 2nd since I've been here."
WEST SENECA WEST 52, Lewiston-Porter 19 - Coach Jim Kuhn: "It was one of those games where as you say on your tape "everything seemed to go just right" West 52 - Lew-Port 19. Kale McMany had 236 yards rushing, Josh Jablonski (C-back) 136 and they only played one series in the second half. We ended up with 586 total yards. Nothing fancy just powers and counters. We had a lot of success with our stack "eye". Kale hits 88 and 99 like a cannon. We will be tested hard next week vs Frontier. "It takes a set"
MATTAMUSKEET 18, Jamesville 6 - Coach Eddie Cahoon: "We finally got our first win, but it wasn't pretty. We rushed for 232 yards and one TD and had two passes for 70 yards and two Td's to win the game 18 to 6. What really hurt us were 7 fumbles and we lost 5, then we had 12 penalties for 105 yards and two of them cost us big runs. My offensive line has already told the backs that they would take of their fumbling at practice next week. We should have rushed for at least 350 yards and scored at least 40 points, but after playing two extremely big teams it was great to win."

BROOKVILLE 33, Preble Shawnee 14 BROOKVILLE NOW 3-0 - Coach Mark Gibson: "We fumbled inside the 20 twice and had numerous penalties, but came away 33 -14 winners versus Preble Shawnee. All three backs ran for over 100 yards. Randy Hubley 21 for 100, Kevin Rogers 10 for 104, Sam Sampson 16 for 114. Kevin is averaging 10.5 yards per carry running the counter and reverse."
PERRYSBURG 24, Toledo Waite 7 - PERRYSBURG NOW 3-0 - Coach Ray Pohlman: "Hugh-We Beat Waite 24-7. It was a very physical game and we stayed with what brought us here......6G,88SP,6G throwback-TD, 6G QB keep-TD 47c and xx 47C. Basic double wing plays helped us win the game...Our offense has totaled 1,216 yards in three games"

8-MAN VERSION OF DOUBLE-WING HAS IMPRESSIVE DEBUT
PERRYDALE 48, Prospect 0 - Coach Eric Clendenin: "Coach Wyatt, I am pleased to report the results from our first game as an 8-man double wing team down here in Perrydale. We traveled to deep southern Oregon to play Prospect. After two plays, their coach called timeout because of the confusion created instantly. Two plays!! Anyways we rolled up over 250 yds rushing in the first half, then let our second and some third string players take over. Though they were admittedly a little bit outmatched physically, they executed rather well. Final of PERRYDALE PIRATES 48, PROSPECT COUGARS 0 , ended in mid-3rd quarter."

RHODE ISLAND
WARE SHOALS 68, Thornwell18 (Ware Shoals, now 3-0, has scored 139 points in three games.) This from Coach Jody Hagins, a youth coach from Mt. Pleasant, SC who wanted to see the offense for himself: "Ware Shoals had 528 yards rushing in their 68-18 victory over Thornwell (the last Thornwell TD came on an 80 yard sweep by their starting backfield against 2nd and third string defenders). They could have done much more, but with three minutes left in the third quarter, they switched to a continuous clock (at the request of the opposing coach), and most of the fourth quarter they spent letting senior linemen run the wedge as B-Back."
First, I must say that my reaction is: wow. Even when the plays weren't run very well, they still gained yardage. The opposing defense seemed to wear down so much so that they were totally ineffective by the end of the third quarter. I must note that Thornwell only brought 18 players so most of their guys had to go both ways (though they didn't spend much time on offense). Ware Shoals scored on every possession except one, in which they fumbled after a gain of 60 yards.
I was very impressed with the way that the numbers totally overwhelmed the defense. The linebackers were flying on the pulling G/T, but the 88/99 Super Powers were still gaining yardage. The tackles were slanting out as well, so they started running 3 trap at 2 for big yardage. This really opened up 38-G-O, which was another big play. By the fourth quarter, the linemen were begging to run 2-Wedge over and over (wanting to take turns running the ball behind the 2nd string line). I got to talk to several of the kids, and they totally love the offensive scheme.
WAGNER 7, Parkston 0
CLARKSVILLE NORTHEAST 42, Clarksville NW 7 - Coach Andy Cooper: "Dear coach, Finally ended a 29 game losing streak this past friday in a convincing manner by a score of 42-7. had 382 rushing yards on 63 carries. Talk about controlling the clock- we had the ball three times the first half for almost 20 minutes. The A, B and c Backs all had over 100 yards for the night. The team we played only had 18 offensive plays for the evening. Even though we are 1-2 for the year we have been in every game and had over 300 yards of offense in every game and our team has had a chance. That is all a team could ask for. This offense is our best defense. We believe !!!"

DANBURY 22, Katy Faith West Academy 20. Coach Don Davis: "Our C-back, RYAN PUCEK, scored in the 4th quarter on a 47-C to tie the game and we took the lead on a fake PAT pass from BRADLEY GANDY to our A-back, BRENT DEAN. DEAN also had 63 yds. rushing on 12 carries and our B-back,BRENT ZWAHR, had 63 yds on 14 carries. Our overall rushing total was 225 yds, passing 55 yds. Going for win number three this Friday against Houston Lutheran South Academy. If we win, it will be the first 3 win season at Danbury since 1994, the second since 1987. Thanks for your help and interest."

We ended the first half inside their 1 yard line and fumbled on their 1 yard line on another drive. Their only score came as the result of a blocked punt (our only punt of the night). Saks was a much bigger team but we were able to run on them all night. Thanks for your system!!"

NORTH DELTA COLTS 38, White Rock Argos 0 - Coach Roger Kelly: "We ran up 238 yards rushing in defeating the White Rock Argos 38-0 Sunday afternoon. Our A back scored one TD on a 56 C while the C backs added three more and our B backs rushed for one. "
CALIFORNIA
CYPRESS CHARGERS 26, Laguna Beach Seahawks 0 - Coach Christian Thomas: "Coach Wyatt, we stayed with what worked and did not complicate things. So here's the good stuff. Total Offense 250 Yards 179 Rushing/72Yards Passing. A Backs 3 Rushes for 30 Yards B Backs 7 Rushes for 57 Yards (mostly 2 Wedge) & C Back 4 for 92 Yds 2-4 Passing 1 INT/passes of 18 Yds & 54 Yds . We did not have to punt one time!! We ran off 39 Plays in an official Pop Warner game, another testament to the Hugh Wyatt wristband!!! Question: It's 4th & 3 on the initial drive, what do you run?? The wedge!!! I could see it took the wind out of the other team. Coach Wyatt please note the Pass reception for 54 Yards: This one could have gone for a TD but he had to run out of bounds at the 10 or our Head coach would have been suspended for running the score up,that was early in the third quarter, do you know how hard it is not to score?? Coach Wyatt; I thank you and the parents thank you for a system that will allow so many kids to get to play so much !!!"
LOS GATOS TIGERS 7, Almaden Chargers 0 - Coach Jim Carlton: " The game wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates. We had two more scoring opportunities (on the 7 and the 4) and I put my 2nd and 3rd team offenses in to give them a shot at the end zone."
LOS GATOS PANTHERS 12, Almaden Chargers 7
SOUTH VALLEY PANTHERS 19 Reseda Broncos 0 - (8-9-10 year olds) Coach Bill Shine: "First year coach running DW for first time....Carlos Lopez the B back ran for over 60yds on wedge, 6-G and 7-G...Mikell Roy A back had an exceptional game running for over 100 yds. on power and super power plays. Coach I'm glad to report that our offense never had to punt. Our drives were stalled twice. Once due to a fumble on the exchange of 99 power and the other due to half time. James Luna our 3 man had a crushing pancake block on a 7-G play, as well as our QB Deforrest Ferguson on a TD scoring 88 Super Power. TD's were off of 88 Power, 88 Super Power and 2 Wedge. Great offense Coach, and the best is yet to come!!!!"
COLORADO
KERSEY COUGARS 25, Johnstown Phantoms 15
GEORGIA
MIDWAY GOLD PACKERS 28, Sharon Springs Royal Cowboys 7 - Coach Dave Clark: Coach Wyatt Well, we finally broke out the double wing in our first regular season game and it was pretty good. The 88's and 99's were a little sloppy but even when they weren't especially good we still got 3 or 4 yds. The defense threw us off a little because they brought up the corners outside the split out DE's and our fullback started trying to kickout the outside CB. This led to a little congestion in our running lane. I should have seen the problem but I guess the game excitement clouded my vision. Next time we'll make adjustments plus the boys will know their blocking assignments better. They ran 4 men on the line and we shredded them with the 3 trap at 2 - 20 yd TD and another run of 15 yds. to the 1 yd line. It sure looks pretty on tape. I guarantee that the 11-12 yr olds in our park can't run a play that looks that good. We hope to do better this week after a little more practice on our pulling techniques. The guards/tackles were a little slow to their wall-off positions on the 88/99 and need more reps."
ILLINOIS
DEERFIELD YOUNG WARRIORS 8, Winnetka 0 - Coach Keith Babb - "We made it through our first game eking out a victory 8-0. As I wrote earlier, we don't have much speed in the backfield this year so we had to grind our way to first down after first down. We made it into the red zone twice in the first half, but failed to score. The first time was due to a dropped pass, the second due to a holding penalty. We won the game when we stopped Winnetka on our 16 on the next to the last play of the 3rd quarter. We took over and proceeded to drive the ball 84 yards in 18 plays for the winning TD. By the time Winnetka got the ball back, only 1:23 remained in the game. Our most effective play was the wedge. Winnetka knew it was coming but they could not stop it. We have a bye next week, so my next score report will be in 2 weeks."
MASSACHUSETTS
WEST BOYLSTON/BOYLSTON 36, North Middlesex 0 - Pop Warner Midgets (14-15 year olds)
WESTFIELD PATRIOTS 38, Springfield North 8 - Coach Jeff Gordon: "Coach - Great game by our team today. We played a Springfield(large city) team that was MUCH bigger than us (so much so that many of the parents predicted that we would get blown out). We were up 22-0 in the first quarter, 30-0 in the first half. We scored TD's on 88 Super Power, 99 Super Power, 5 X, the Wedge and 47C. We scored 2 Pts on 58C, the Wedge and our own "99 Super Power QB throwback" . The final score was 38-8 and the best part was everyone played. I was very satisfied with the way the parents reacted to our offense (what choice did they have, it was pretty evident that the damn thing worked.) The Springfield team began slanting to shut down our 88, and that left our back UNTOUCHED on the counters. We barely scratched the surface of the offense. We are playing this team again in a few weeks, I imagine that they will be more ready for us then...But then again, we will open it up a bit more...Talk to you soon."
MICHIGAN
KALAMAZOO CHRISTIAN 20, Constantine 8 (7th Grade)
KALAMAZOO CHRISTIAN 34, Delton 7 (8th grade) Coach Herb Persons: "308 total rushing yards including 36 on QB reverse with 1 TD. We drove 89 yards in 12 plays using almost all of the 2nd quarter. (8 minute quarters)"

MANCHESTER BEARS 20, Winnacunet 14 - Coach John Trisciani: The defending NH Senior Football League Champions earned their first victory rushing for over 300 yards led by C back Brian Sullivan 8 carries 136 yards scoring TD's from 57 and 38 yards out.Fullbacks Ryan Snee 14-97 yds. and Eric Costin 8-38 yds. and a TD also pitched in.Last week we lost our season opener to Portsmouth 40-26 although the DW rushed for 354 yards. They ran back 3 kickoffs for TD'S .We showed a lot more WANT TO this week and did a better job preparing our kids defensively and on special teams. The DW continues to ramble here in New Hampshire.
NEW JERSEY
CAPE MAY RAIDERS 24, Wildwood 8 - Coach Frank Simonsen: "Our QB is 1 for 1 TD. We ran 6-G- pass for a TD. because we play Middle (biggest opponent) next week I didn't run anything but Power and SP. with a few Gs., and a sneaky 3T2 for a TD. Ran wedge 3 times in a row for 20 yd. until they scored with it. Wildwood scored when we watered down. We are very strong on D. Wildwood did not make a first down against our first D. The tackling would make a great point for our argument. As you know, this is the first year starting pre season with the system, . What a difference."
NORTH CAROLINA
DURHAM EAGLES 42, Sanford Sting 6 - Coach Dave Potter: "The "slaughter rule" went into effect, where we were no longer able to send our offense on the field. The Double wing rules! We're 3-0 with wins of 19-6, 26-0, and 42-6. We ran for 198 yards in our first game, 223 yards in our second game, and 345 yards in our third game. "
RHODE ISLAND
CHARIHO COWBOYS 29 - East Providence Mohawks 0
TENNESSEE
FRANKLIN COWBOYS 6, Mt. Juliet Bears 0 - Coach Greg Stout - "We won our 2nd OT game in 2 weeks today beating Mt. Juliet Bears 6-0. Moved the ball well in the 1st half but couldn't score. We can't hold onto the ball inside the 20. Wedge was awsome along with the 5X. Couldn't get the powers working. We scored on the wedge in OT and then held Mt. Juliet in OT for the win. Started with terrible field position in the 2nd half and relied on our defense. We stopped them on 4th and goal inside the 5, 6 times."
UTAH
HILLCREST HUSKIES 31, Skyline Eagles 20 - Huskies now 3-0
VIRGINIA -
CAVE SPRING REBELS 31 North Roanoke Vikings 0. Rebels now 3-0 Coach Armando Castro- "The team that knocked us off for the championship last season.Best play for us so far - 88 power and 88 super power."
WASHINGTON
EDMONDS CYCLONES 25, South Everett Storm 12 - Coach Glade Hall: "We scored on our second possession when C back broke TR47C for 48 yds and a touch. Our powers worked very well from both sides. They had a strong inside defensive line that stopped our inside running so we took it outside. We scored twice more with TL99 and once with TR88. They scored on one long drive and on a fluke kick off return. We also coughed the ball up on their 2 while running the wedge We had 310 yards rushing total. The wedge was not working at all so we need to work on that. 6 and 7 G worked ok but we need work there as well. All in all the kids put in a great effort and our coaches are pleased with our performance. Next week we meet another Tuiaosopo team as we play the other South Everett Storm "gold" team. BTW, Our Cyclone 89er ( 3rd and 4th graders ) II wing team won as well 28-13 over the South County Warriors."
WISCONSIN
FRANKLIN SABERS 18, Greenfield Eagles 0 - Coach Rick Senk: "Coach Wyatt - opened Regular season with a big win against the green eagles. This is our first year with the DW and the score does not reflect that the Sabers ended the first half and the game on the goal line. We were able to get the ball to 15 different players today. 260 yards on 42 running plays. "
