LAS ANIMAS 28, Calhan 14 - Coach Greg Koenig: "The Las Animas Trojans are now 2-2 after winning our first Homecoming game in nine years. We won 28-14, but the score doesn't begin to show the domination we achieved. We ran the ball 58 times for 443 yards and 3 TD's. We were 2 of 5 passing for 30 yards and 1 TD. Our C-back had 13 carries for 159 yards and 1 TD. Our A-back had 11 carries for 79 yards and 1 TD. Our B-back had 16 carries for 60 yards and a two-point conversion (on the wedge, of course). Our QB had 14 carries for 106 yards and 1 TD. We have amassed 1192 yards on the ground in four games, and we are averaging about 28 minutes of possession time per game."

CAMANCHE

FREDERICKSBURG 17, Clarksville 14 (OT) "Coach, We did it. We could not move the ball on the ground. Our last drive was mostly 49 brown 0 and 58 black 0. Our two TDs were tight wedge 2 black naked. It rained all night. After looking at films our center was blocking away on a lber and not on the 2 tech on 99 power and 88 power. How frustrating. The kid is 6 1 300 lbs and quick. It can be corrected. We play #9 rated Postville next."

BOOTHBAY REGIONAL 28, Oak HIll 0 - Coach jack Tourtillotte - "SeaHawks beat Oak Hill 28-0. A classic DW wing game. We scored once in each quarter dominating time of posession. Sophomore QB Will Carrol threw 7 Thunder X Corner for a 48 yard completion to set up a 15 yard score on XX 47 C. He also completed 7-Thunder Y drag Opposite for a 60 yard completion and ran in a 10 yard 3- Brown-0 for the score. We had 340 yards total offense. Well done for a very young team. A note for you - defensively we ran split 4-4. I took much of what we did from your highlight tape. again you help us win a game from half way across the country - Thanks."

CONY 12, Mt. Blue 0

GORHAM 61, Maranacook 0 - "Hey Coach, What play do you run when you don't want to score? We had our Freshmen/Sophomores playing the fourth quarter and they scored three touchdowns. Two on an 88 Super Power and the third on a Wedge - he just appeared out of the scrum and scampered/untouched into the end zone. Rushed for over 380 yards and we were 1 for 2 passing for 42 yards. "

REED CITY 10, Tri-County 8 - Coyotes now 4-1 on the season.

KALAMAZOO CHRISTIAN 36, Parchment 26 - Comets Now 4-1 Coach Herb Person, pinch-hitting for Coach Mike Hause: "Mike's computer is still down he asked me send the info for the game. Kalamazoo Christian won the battle of DW teams over Parchment, 36 to 26. In the first half offenses controlled the game. The score at the half was 26 to 21, Parchment. Christian scored two TD's early in the 2nd half before the rains came. The rest of the game was a mud bowl - nobody could do anything. Dan VanDis (A) gained 290 yards in 22 carries, a new school record, and Brandon Leap (C) gained 96 in 12 carries."

AMHERST 41, Sweet Home 28 (Two in a row for a team that went 0-for-1999!) Coach Jason Beckman: "This week was one of our most efficient offensive games ever, we totaled 411 yards of offense, 387 on the ground - 1/2 passing for 24 yards. Our B back scored three touchdowns, and our C back put up 256 yards on 26 carries and 2 TD's. We ran just the basics and held the ball for almost the entire first half (I think the opposing team had 12-15 offensive snaps in the first half). We have started a new streak !!!!"

CORNING WEST 26, Johnson City 0 - Coach Mike Johnston: We scored TD's on XX47C and XX56C, 88/99 Super Power, and completed a 2-pt. conversion on 6G pass. Overall, we rushed for 421 yards with A-back Chris Scanlon rushing for 191 on 14 carries and C-back Ian Tuttle rushing for 154 on 15 carries. We shot ourselves in the foot several times with penalties that nullified 2 other scores and 2 fumbles that occurred on our opponents 1 yard line and 18 yard line. We'll take the win though, and work for continued improvement. Defensively we are showing signs of coming around, posting a shutout (Luke Pitcher, OLB had 3 int.'s)"

Came back to score 21 unanswered points. Who said a running team can't come back quickly? We ran the Power and Sweep most of the evening, including the final drive to go ahead. We scored the go ahead touchdown on a Boot Pass from 22 yards out. Totaled 428 yards including 371 on the ground. All three of our starting backs now have over 400 yards on the season (582, 477, 407 ). Offensive Coordinator Mike Schlosser is doing a fantastic job with the play calling."

PERRYDALE 62, Triangle Lake 12 - (8-MAN DOUBLE-WING) Coach Eric Clendenin: "Coach Wyatt, Great news to report once again. We beat Triangle Lake 62 - 12. A back Kinton Hutchinson rushed 8 times for 150 and 2 TD's. B back Jacob Eichler rushed 15 times for 200 and 3 TD's. In all, 5 players scored touchdowns, and we rushed for 469 yds. Oh yeah, that's with the game being stopped at mid 3rd quarter, 45 pt. rule. So far, we've only got to play a total of 9 quarters due to that rule, and we've rushed for 957 yds. That's all good, but I'm most proud of the fact that we've only had 1 penalty , and ZERO turnovers! Now, we are 3 - 0 overall, and ranked 10th, which is only the second time in school history that we've cracked the top 10."

SOUTH ALBANY 57, Corvallis 0 - Coach Jay Minyard: We're playing pretty good football at this point . Sitting 2-1, only losing to Sprague (last years 4A runner ups) in a 29-26 contest where we fumbled 4 times (twice inside the 20). Last week rolled over a real young Corvallis team 57-0. Racked up 580 yards of offense. It was nice to get in some of 2nd and 3rd srtingers who have worked real hard and deserve playing time. a lot of our success came out of what we call our "speed" package, which is just your sprint sweep. We had 2 touchdowns off of the sweep and another off of the trap. We're looking to expand on that package a little. anyway- just wanted to touch base. Thanks for all you do for the sport."

CLARKSVILLE NORTHEAST 17, Kenwood 7 - Coach Andy Cooper: "Won this past Friday against city rival Kenwood 17-7. This was a team that embarrassed us last year 38-13 and were up 30-0 at the half. Kenwood also went to the state semi finals last year and thought we would roll over this year. Their coach made reference to our team as being cupcakes and we used that theme to the max. We scored on our first two possesions and were up 14-0 early in the 2nd and 14-7 at the half. Only ran wedge, trap 88&99 SP, 47c and 29 and38 GO reach and down. We threw 1 screen but for the most part we were efficient with no turnovers and played field position the second half. 97 yards in penalties does not help our cause but a win is a win.A back had 68 yards, b had 87 yards and c had 91 yards and QB few yards on several sneaks on 3rd and short. They knew wedge and sneak was coming but we were determined to run it.A matter of pride. We ran everything from tight the whole night. Run a few plays, run them well."

TEXAS

DANBURY 56, Bay Area Chrsitian 7 - Coach Don Davis: "Eleven different backs produced 406 yds. rushing for Danbury. Our leading rusher was B-back BRENT ZWAHR with 112 yds. on 14 carries (6/7 G and 3 trap @ 2) and two touchdowns, followed by A-back BRENT DEAN with 100 yds on 15 carries (two touchdowns). Quarterback BRADLEY GANDY completed one of three passes, including one to end RYAN PUCEK for a 26 yd touchdown. By the way, this is the first time DHS has started 4-0 since 1979. As you know, we are in our second year of running the Double Wing and all is going well. Our kids gain more confidence everyday and are playing more aggressively in every aspect of the game. Thanks for all your help."

WOODBERRY FOREST 35, Fork Union Military Academy 24 - Coach Bill Davis: "We beat Hill 55-34 and then beat Fork Union 35-24. I can't speak highly of our defense right now but our offense is rolling. Against Hill we had 571 yards rushing and about 40 passing. Against Fork Union we had 290 rushing and 70 passing. We threw 6 times against Hill and 12 times against FUMA. I want to throw a little more but the opportunity has just not been there and when we are doing so well rushing, why throw. We play a single A West Virginia public school this week. The school we are playing has won 34 of their last 35 ball games and they have won the single A state championship for four consecutive years. It should be a real good test for us."

YUMA SCORPIONS 32, Zorros 0. Coach L. E. "Stew" Stewart: "We scored three out of four times the DW was on the field (one fumble). Kids are having lots of fun and the dads are quick to ask "did you see my son's pancake block". We continue to improve every week." (I know a lot of coaches who would kill to have dads like that! HW)

BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

NORTH DELTA COLTS 32, Coquitlam Raiders 0 - Coach Roger Kelly: "The North Delta Colts rushed for over 230 yards in defeating the defending league champions Coquitlam Raiders Sunday. The Colts were sparked by a punt blocked by defensive tackle Lee Page which he pounced on in the end zone for the game's first TD. Then wingbacks Cam Clark, Michael Cahill and Sean Kelly added a touchdown each all on either 47Cs or 56Cs. The wedge was working perfectly and as soon as they tried to anticipate it we would hit them with a 99 SP. We added an Over I Right 88 O in pregame and ran it twice for a total of 35 yards!! Our defense allowed one first down all game and that was controversial. Late in the game the referees deliberately moved the spot of the ball a yard and a half ahead of where the player went down. It was so obvious my entire team started yelling but it was another attempt by officials to "help" the losing team. That "incident" notwithstanding, what is so enjoyable for me, as a coach, is that our scoring has been spread out with seven different players involved in the team's 16 TDs."

DEERFIELD YOUNG WARRIORS 35, Skokie Vikings 7 - Coach Keith Babb: "After a bye last week, the Deerfield Young Warriors were back in action against the Skokie Vikings. Of the 34 players on our squad, we only have 6 backs. To get more playing time for our linemen, I instituted a competition between the "red" line and the "grey" line. We alternated the 2 lines during the first half to see who could lead our backs to the most TD's. I'm proud to say that the lines tied - each scoring 2 TD's in the first half. At halftime we constructed a third line and they played the entire 2nd half scoring a TD. Our QB scored 2 TD's and the A, B, and C backs got one each. With the 3rd line we added an extra tackle (8 man line) and ran out of the "I". We only ran wedge at 2, 99 & 88 super power. By the 4th quarter, these guys were moving the ball. It was nice to reward these kids who show up to practice and have not yet developed the skill to compete with some of our first line players. I know, 2 years ago, when we did not run the DW, these kids would not have seen as much playing time because I would be afraid that our backs would get hammered. The tight splits and easily learned assignments allowed us to play these guys an entire half, giving them experience to build on for the rest of the season. In sum, we're 2 and 0 going into our toughest game of the season against our arch rivals. With a good week of practice, we hope to be successful."

HANOVER PARK HURRICANES

DAVIESS COUNTY (Frosh) 22, Apollo 14 - Coach David Crump: " The key plays were: Over 88 power, Under 99 power, 47 counter and 47 criss-cross. This avenged an earlier 30-2 loss at Apollo when we turned the ball over 6 times!! (We play all of our county schools a home and away series each year to cut down on travel expenses)."

PINE CITY (FROSH)22, Foley 12 - Coach Mike O'Donnell- "Last night our freshmen pushed their record to 3-0 with a 22-12 defeat of an excellent Foley team. We took the opening kickoff and marched down the field overcoming a couple of major penalties only to be kept out of the end zone when, after having one touchdown called back, our receiver was knocked out of bounds on the three-yard line. In a ten minute quarter, we ran off 9:13 of the game clock so Foley had just 47 seconds of possession in the first period. Unfortunately, they scored first on a long run but we then came back and tallied three times in the second period on an interception return, an 87-yard run off the COUNTER, and a 26-yard COUNTER. Then, late in the game, we ran the SUPER POWER possibly the best we have all season and controlled the clock while gaining valuable field position on our way to the win. For the night, our A-back had 11 carries for 125 yards, our B-backs combined for 12 carries and 66 yards, and our C-back had 10 rushes for 137 yards. In addition, we were five of nine passing and had three different players score touchdowns. Although we felt we did not play our best in terms of being technically sound, the team gave a great effort and battled through adversity. Thanks again for everything."

MISSOURI

ST CHARLES JUNIOR VIKINGS 38, Junior Wildcats 34. Coach Mike Ryan: "The Wildcats used a T-N-T defense and we beat them with Super-O blocking. We scored our first Touchdown on a Tight Liz 66 Super Power. It worked great. Thanks for your help."

NEVADA

SPARKS LIONS 7, Reno Eagles 6 - Coach Mike Muniz: "We marched up and down on this rainy night and fumbled two or three times the QB was pulling out too quick. It was fun to watch the double wing at work. We need to work on our backs, teaching them not to dance in the hole. I took charge of the O-line and I call them the HOGS root out the snakes and eat them, they love it sort of makes them special. 6G is GREAT lets 47C and the other counters go for big gains with backs that do not have break away speed, just opens up like Moses parting the red sea. The fans love to watch the surprise of the other teams defense when they can't find the ball, almost criminal. We still have lots of work but in the work is the true reward. Makes me proud and thankful to be part of it. I We scored with THE WEDGE! (boy did that defense hate that play) from the two yard line. After a long drive starting at our 15-the defense stuffed a reverse and caused a fumble.(It's great when the D-end stays home)"

TIGARD TIGERS 7, Rex Putnam Kingsmen 0. Coach Kevin Thurman: "SP, 47C, Wedge and 6G were unstoppable again (at least in the first half). We scored on our first drive going 75 yards in 9 plays and using over 7 minutes of clock time doing it. The DW moved well the rest of the first half but we ran out of time right after we broke a 47C for 45 yards down to our opponent's 11 yard line before being stopped. Quick stats: A Back Chris Roberg had 35 yards on 5 carries before he turned his ankle in the first quarter and had to come out. C Back Sammy Carlson had 89 yards on 7 carries and B Back Gavin Jellison carried the ball 6 times for 59 yards and a TD."

RHODE ISLAND

CHARIHO COWBOYS 16, Cranston Chiefs 0

TENNESSEE

FRANKLIN COWBOYS 19, Donelson Warriors 19-0 - Coach Greg Stout : "The offense seemed to improve and scored 3 times. The Warriors obviously had scouted us because they put 10 in the box up close to stop the wedge and trap. We were able to get outside on 38GO, 29GO and a Strong Right 28G I came up with. After getting ouside consistently in the first half we were able to move the ball up the middle in the second half. I ran a 5X out of the Strong Right formation that completely fooled the defense that was looking outside to the right. Got the 47C to work a couple times. The flexibility of this offense is great. Our record is now 4-1."

TEXAS

HILL COUNTRY COWBOYS

ROCKWALL MUSTANGS 13, Raiders 6 - Coach Scott Barnes: "The Mustangs pulled down a nice win in spite of some coaching problems! We played last years league champs, and beat them 13-6. They were VERY big boys, and had us on our heels for the first qtr until my guys decided to start playing. We pounded them with 88sp, then hit them for a long score on xx47c. The wedge broke out twice and our B-Back had over 100yds rushing. We had a 1st and goal from the 7 and driving, when the 1st half came to an end..Coach forgot we had a "clock" to manage, and totally dropped the ball. We had a 1st and goal from our 3 when the game ended...basically, we beat them up and down the field for 3 qtrs running 88/99sp, wedge and xx47C. Threw in a couple 6g's and 38/29GO's for good measure, but we just S-P'd them into submission. The other guys got tired and my boys walked away with a great deal of confidence. Some good game pics at http://www.coachbarnes.com/Game2pics.htm and here's a clip of 88sp and the Wedge from a bunch of first year 10year olds..(it's real media format)"

UTAH

TAYLORSVILLE WARRIORS 34, Hillcrest Huskies 0 - Coach Al Andrus: n a cold, rainy morning, our Taylorsville Warrior "Mity Mite" team beat the Hillcrest Huskies, 34-0. We were very basic because of the conditions. We ran only 88 SP, 99P, 2 Wedge, 4 base lead and Criss-cross 47-C. We had two long TD's called back; one on holding and one on clipping, away from the action. P.S. Coach- We allowed one first down in the game. The parents aren't talking about the way we teach tackling any more!"

VERMONT

CENTRAL VERMONT PANTHERS 13, St. Johnsbury Raiders - 0 - Coach Neil Martel: "This is our second win and also second shut out. The wedges were big gainer this time as were 88 powers. Also QB keep off of fake of rip 88 power. The other team's coach was amazed that we could teach kids at this age (11&12 years) to pull. I told him we started on day one and just keep repping it and the kids love to do it. He said he felt like he never got his offense to have any possession time as his defense was always on the field. In the first half (we play 25 min running halves) we had the ball for nearly 16 minutes. Also tackling techniques are working as this was second game in a row in which we posted a shut out. Thanks coach."

VIRGINIA

CAVE SPRING REBELS 26, Cave Spring Falcons 0 - Coach Armando Castro: "This time 47c was best play of game; coaches are now attempting to stop towards 88 so we are coming back the other way; working like a charm. There is one disturbing trend though. We are rolling on offense, so refs start trying to slow us down.It is not coach's paranoia.Everyone is starting to notice. It's like I guess they have the liberal mentality of we should all be equal no matter who works harder. It is starting to be a bit frustrating, but that will only motivate me to work harder.I'll keep you posted.Blessings,Coach Castro"

EDMONDS CYCLONES 43, Millcreek Invaders 0 - Coach Glade Hall: "We had a mid week game Tuesday night under the lights. It's the first time our kids ever played at night since all our games are played on Saturday. We had a great time and in a workmen like fashion defeated a very big Millcreek Invaders team.. We have a lot of team speed so it really worked to our advantage. Both TR88 & TL99 scored as well as 47C & 47CXX. We also ran a punt back for another score. We ran Tight 38G for the first time with some success gaining 12 and 15 yards the two times we ran it.
